I have a litle problem with pyramid snails in my tank and wsa thinking about getting a six line to help deal with them. while at the lfs today the owner told me he wouldn't put one in because they are hit or miss and could nip at corals. BTW i also have a Maderin that i dont want to have to compete for food. will this also be a problem? Opinions please!

I've had my sixline in my display tank for 2 weeks now and have never seen him nipping at any corals

Sixlines won't nip corals AFAIK, it's usually fish like angels you need to worry about in a reef. My sixline's a sweetie, doesn't bother anything (but doesn't take crap from others either, lol) and doesn't even seem to notice the corals.

It shouldn't. My sixline eats brine and so does my roommates. They are usually good about eating prepared foods, but if you want both fish then just add some copepods every now and again. You could also modify your refuge to breed brine.

will it compete with a maderin
Most definately. It will outcompete him, as a sixline is very quick and always searching..just like the mandarin. Brine is virtually non-nutritious unless you gutload it.

It will outcompete the he manderin
also though small they are very fast and are always moving.
and if you have other small fish like gobies and the such he may be a problem
mine has never bothered my corals.
