Six line wrasse?

Thought of adding one of these to my 29, but have heard bad things about them. Thoughts?

Stock: firefish, frogspawn, star polyps, zoanthids

I could totally see a sixline bullying some firefish, you have a top or screen? If he decides to bully those guys and you have an open top, you might find some crispy fire fish laying on the floor.

+1. Same experience here. I had a six line. and had to remove him. Not sure if it was male or female, but, got it at about 1 1/2 inches long. Was a model citizen for over 8 months, it even congregated with all the other fish. Once it got to a little over 2 inches though, it started terrorizing my firefish (the firefish had been in there the whole time), and tried with my citron goby but the citron fought back, chased the sixline around the tank for about a half hour, and then sixline wouldn't go near the citron after that, but, it terrorized my firefish continuously (fortunately the firefish was fast enough to get away every time, but the firefish couldn't get anything to eat for a couple of days because the sixline would chase him back into a hole whenever he came out). Needless to say, got rid of the sixline and the tank's doing great now.

Probably will be a douche in a 29. Mine was a terror in a 24x18x18.

They can be quite the bully and in a smaller tank any future additions will be limited. just my 2 cents.

^ These are the majority of cases I hear and see, though there are always exceptions...

mine was fine for a few months in my 75, then turned in to an absolute terror. constantly attacking my clowns, until one end up jumping.

had several sixline wrasse over the year in my own tank, on maintenance account tanks and while working at a LFS never had ONE with aggression issue. NEVER!

I currently have one that is a model citizen. doesnt bother anyone or anything. The one prior would beat the heck out of my Blue head wrasse. Yes i said Blue Head wrasse. The first one disappeared never to be found, likely the blue head got tired of his constant pestering. So i lucked out a bit there i guess. The second one shouldn't have been purchased, but i have a pretty strong attraction to the fish. It has worked out so far, but keep in mind he is in a 300g stock tank. There is no better fish to watch swim through the rock work.

My brother has one in a 30 gallon with no issues. He's in there with clowns and a firefish. I've heard the six lines are problematic with other wrasses. He's the only wrasse in my bro's tank. I wanted to get one, but I have fairy and flasher wrasses, so I didn't want to chance it.

I have had a few, some nice and others not so nice. In a tank tank size his companions are always going to be on edge with him.
