Sixline Wrasse Free to Good Home

Hi everyone,

I have a sixline wrasse that I need to find a new home for. My new tank is finally all set up, and since I want to get a flasher/fairy wrasse, I can't keep this little guy. He's about 1.5" long, and I've had him for probably a year and a half. Fat and healthy. He did a nice job keeping my bristleworm population in check. :)

Allyson from here was interested, so I've sent her a PM and she has first dibs, but I need to rehome this guy ASAP, so I'd like to know if anyone else is interested if she doesn't get back to me.

Thanks!

Boyo Natterjack... your post sounds like a duplicate of one we posted several months back.. needing to find a 6-line a new home so we could stock some nice flasher/fairy wrasses :). Best of luck with your new tank setup :)

Thanks Tom! I saw that you're getting yours all set up too, looks great!

I'm so glad to be finally nearing the completion of this project - it's been a long 6 months! I'll probably post a thread on the whole thing once I get all my pictures together. :)

yea, we opted for the slow painful post approach... updating each step of the way :D. Vortecs and lighting components arrived this morning, salt arrives tomorrow and the track for the lighting arrives Thursday. By the time the salt arrives the tank should be filled with RO/DI water.. put one of the vortecs in right after the delivery guy dropped them off.. wow, such alot of flow for such a little guy :). How far are you from finshing up your tank ? any tank specs that you care to share ? :)

Have you been following our thread in the large tank forum ? or just seeing my comments about our progress in our club forum here ?

I looked through parts of your thread a week ago - haven't had time to sit down and read through the whole thing yet, but what I saw looked great. :)

The tank is pretty much done, except for a few things. We transferred all the live rock over the weekend, and transferred the fish yesterday. I had transferred almost all the rock over when I realized I couldn't find our yellow watchman goby. Checked the new tank, and there he was, parked under a rock! He must've been sleeping inside one of the rocks when I moved them.

I still have to set up the 'fuge and all my reactors and stuff, but all the essential things are up and running.

The tank is a 180g in-wall, running an H&S 200x2-F2001 skimmer, OM 4-way for closed loop. I'm lighting it with 3 250w MH pendants and VHO for dawn/dusk. It is so bright it lights up our whole family room. I set up the Aquacontroller Jr. last night - that thing is pretty neat!

I'm just so relieved and happy to finally have water and fish in there, at long last. Now I get to do the fun part - stocking it! :)

yup.. can't wait to get to the stocking phase ourselves.. but I don't think that will happen for a couple of months (although we may get antsy about it and just start anyways). Because we have a mandarin (almost 2 years now) we want to run the new system with lots of seed sand and liverock from our current tank and fuge, to ensure a good, robust pod and general micro fauna population :). Also going to take a chunk of chaeto from our fuge and hang it in the tank to really get that process going. :). Most of our LR won't make it right away from our current tank, only the pieces we have been "curing" in a dark section of our sump just for this purpose (and any rock that has livestock attached to it, of course). The rest will be cooked, and/or sold with our old tank.

Roughly this time next week we get to start the aquascaping.. that will be fun too, to be able to see it all start coming together. Our base rock shipment should arrive next Tuesday :D

Sixline

Bonnie,

Just send you a PM.
Just a few double-checks from you all.

We certainly have plenty of bristle-worms if he likes this diet. Also, plenty of photosynthetic flatworms, which was one of the reasons we considered the 6-line.

However, we do have a spawning pair of maroon clowns. Will he go after the eggs and get into a potential fight. Mama maroon is rather big, so I doubt it. In fact, she often has bristles stuck on her, so she may be protecting the eggs from the worms herself.

Our other livestock is a very large Naso, and a blue tang. The Naso is the dominant fish in the tank. Finally we have a Royal Gamma, which is going to be the closest in size and shape to the 6-line. All these are in a 180 tank. Do you see any conflicts?

Thanks,

Allyson and Rich

What base rock are you getting Tom? Guess you all ready purchased it?

yes and no. I have a source in mind that I can pick it up from next Tuesday, but I am currently shopping around. Do you know of any good sources for base rock (good 14"+ sized pieces, preferrably, similar to what I already have (pictured in our tank build thread).

I am actually calling around right now to the LFS just to compare prices... how much per pound is base rock typically ?

edit : Sorry to have so thoroughly hijacked your thread Bonnie :(

Allyson,

We originally got him because our bristle worm population was booming - never actually saw him eat any, but I do know that after we got him, I saw a lot fewer worms in the display.

As for the compatibility issues, the only one I can speak to would be the blue tang, and ours never had any problems getting along. Our blue tang can be a bit of a bully, but the sixline is too fast to be bothered by it. We had two false percs and a cleaner wrasse in with it as well, and it pretty much left everyone alone.
