skeletor eel pic

Oh man that's a bummer! I figured they would let you keep the eel but was hoping they still had the skeletor to send to you.

Hey is that the tessalata eel they had on DD about a week ago about 11 inches that's the one I was going to buy but did not because it was sold

Man this stinks the tessy is a great looking eel. I just can't justify another tank for one fish. Look at my profile and you'll see what I mean. Still very annoyed with the whole mess

Aw, come on! With that many tanks, what's one more? :D

Sucks you didn't get the right eel though. Have you posted a thread in the sale forums for the Tessy?

:lmao: you're not helping our house glows blue and all you can hear is running water. Finding an empty tank isn't the issue it's where to put it once it's set up. There is a local forum here I'll try so I don't have to ship as I'm not geared up for that, just want to make sure it ends up ok.

Man I was going to put him in my 92 corner and then put him in a 300 o well I got a zebra they had this past weekend I've been told I can keep him in the 92 his whole life. Oh well good luck with the eel

Thanks, I keep looking at it trying to decide what to do. With triggers I know what I can push and what not too, same with a lot of inverts I keep like mantis etc. With eels I don't have a ton of experience. On the fence but still looking at rehoming at this stage, kids want to keep Grimm ( yes they named it so already in for a battle there..... sigh!) other half not crazy about morays and definitely not the fish eating ones ie teeth visible :). I know this is a aggressive eel that will get very big and can live for a long time so chime in tessy keepers, I need your experiences here.

I would post this in the Vendor experience section, there was a whole big thing about LA the other day.

Update, got my first call from DD today and they are going to try to fix the problem.
They will look for a skeletor and call me which should take about a month plus they have found one lfs that will take the tessy. Being local i know this is unfortunately not a well managed marine fish store but do appreciate the effort they made.If we go ahead as planned it will probably be rehomed through the local forum so I can see where it goes. Not always but IMO free fish makes people do crazy stuff and not always value the animal as much and I feel responsible for this eel so want to try to do the right thing for it.
Thanks for everyone's replies and input. I'm being hopeful for a happy ending after all. Will update with the final outcome.

If you decide don't keep it and can't rehome locally I might be able to help if you decide to ship. I hope they can get you another skeletor. I have only seen a half dozen or so offered for sale and 1/3 of them are living with me.

I know they aren't seen often, makes this mess suck even more. Going to hold the tank place and hope DD comes through. What size tank do you think I can hold the tessy in for a temp tank? I'm not to comfortable keeping it with the grouper and lion even in the short term which I have had to while mixing salt water and unpacking possible empty tanks in the garage. My q tank has had copper in before so can't go there plus grow out tanks are full while I'm re cycling a redseamax after moving it. The sumps and an escape artist like an eel would not end well. I know better than to set up one of the larger tanks...... That's how they become permanent :)

Good ,looking at one of the 30s because I don't want to fill it right to the top, plus need to eel proof it. Will put PVC in plus some live rock. Filter is going to be fun looking at options as I have some fluvals lying around but they won't be mature so may have to swop out live rock rubble from one of the sumps

When you are logged in go to forums, scroll down to vendor section, I don't have a link to the exact thread Alex was referencing.
Eel update - somebody on our local forum appears to have a good home for the tessy. If it checks out I'll donate the eel, already getting way to attached to it :).
