Skeletor eel with smaller fish?

But I thought about it when it was still available... that's why when I saw this one at a LFS, sort of thought it was fate :)

Yup, I would too, been looking for another. I was thinking about the one on DD but I work evenings so it's hit or miss getting on the internet and it was gone by the time I was able to check it out.

Got lucky this time and managed to get it I guess;). I feed silversides infrequently. Largest portion of diet for all my fish is made up of fresh table shrimp then pellets then mysis. I add in what ever is fresh and reasonable at the local grocer regarding seafood as I go along. Last night after lights out mr eel was very active. Made me recheck the lids to make sure all possible escape points were still taken care of. He was definitely on the hunt so I fed a piece of shrimp and after that he settled back into his fav rock. Will post some pics

Please do, I saw the pic they had posted but would love to see some more. I think it was supposed to be around 11"? Where they on in the estimate?

I posted a pic in a seperate thread so i dont hijack this one :). Would like to know what you are keeping yours with SDguy? DD was quite close on the size> Moraykeeper.

Well I don't have any crustaceans in the tank, but quite a few smaller fish, so we'll see how things go.

Mind me asking how much you paid for your eel SDGuy? There are two skeletors at the LFS but they belong to one of the workers there so i couldnt buy one.

Apparently he's had it for a while.... but with no labels on the tanks, you wouldn't have known unless you were lucky enough like me to catch it roaming around the tank, instead of hiding in the rocks.

I'm still going to be looking for one so will be tagging along to see how yours works out. Will be interesting to see if it becomes more outgoing with time plus how it fairs with tank mates and cuc, would love to see more pics

Tiny eels are frustrating...he can hide so well in a 150g tank that I can't find him. He's definitely in there... just don't know where!

I assume he'll come out when he's hungry (I fed him A LOT that first day). How often should/will he eat?

Most eels will eat every 2-3 days. When they are small I try to feed more frequently like any other fish. If you can get it to eat 5x per week that should be plenty.

Have you tried holding some raw shrimp in the water to entice it out into the open from where ever it's hiding?

I would think the regular fish food (shrimp, mysis, scallop etc) would do this. I'll have to pay more attention when the food first hits the water.

I bought one a couple of years ago from DD and he is doing great. Only eats shrimp, has never liked silversides. I feed him every 3 days or so, he is about 18-24" and pretty thick. Never bothers the fish in the tank, I have a Blueline Angelfish and a Kole Tang in the tank with him. He also used to share space with a Golden Dwarf eel of the same size, no problems at all but he past about 6 months ago and I have no idea why.

I also have some corals in my tank and the eel does not bother the coral at all, very outgoing, swims around when hungry but has never tried to escape, I have lids for the tank but he can push them open if he wanted to.

Might be looking to sell it soon since I'm thinking about taking down the tank, have other tanks to take care of, paid a lot for it since it was one of the very 1st Skeletor eel for sale back then, nowadays they are a little more common.
Looking to get $250.00 for it plus shipping, if interested, please send me your email address and I'll send you pics.

I'm not hopeful. I haven't seen the eel since day 2, and this morning I noticed the fish munching on a large stringy piece of white stuff... possibly flesh? :( :(
