Skilter for quarantine tank?

I am almost done with my Q tank. I have the back and bottom painted black, I have nice pieces of PVC for hiding and a good heater. I even built a rolling cart for it to sit on so I can roll it out into my garage when not in use! (and I can roll it to my main tank to fill up the Q tank when needed and then roll it into my office for use)

It is a 20gal long tank.

I was debating on the type of filter to use. I was debating on the AquaClear 50.

While investigating I noticed these skilter filters that combine a skimmer with a power filter. I was curious if this might be a good idea to boost airation in the Q tank as well as having the power filter that I can use for biofilter and carbon as I want.

I don't like airstones much in tanks as I like to keep salt creep under some control so I was thinking even if the skilter skimmer did not work well it would at least help with airation.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

the skliter power filter is ok for a low end combo i have had two before i bought my corlife skimmer.

they do work a lot better when you mode them.

drill a hole in the top for a air line and use a air wood block.
ends up working a lot better then with the air line in it.

i think one of the micro air mods might work on it but that is a guess with out trying.

Ok thanks - good to know.

I will not be looking so much for skimmate but liked the idea of an out of tank method of airation - so I think I will go ahead and purchase one.
