Skimmer Adjustments

I was just wondering how much I should set my skimmer to be skimming. Should I set it so that I need to change the collection cup every 4-5 days? Every week? the way its set up right now it needs to be changed every 2 to 2.5 weeks...is this too little?

i set my skimmer at the very bottom of the collection cup so i just under wet skimming but actually dry skimming, it works best for me this way, the more crap it gets out the better off your system will be

A skimmer can be set up to skim at different amount.....such as thick or watered down (Dry Vs. Wet)......Here is a read on the advantages of both....maybe this will help you with the correct setting for you.....

So I should 'wet skim' for removal of more organic waste...Does this mean that I should always have a little bit of wet foam coming over and collecting in the collection cup??

id start off with dry skimming, until you get the feel for your skimmer then as smalls mentioned you can do what you think is best for you

i agree with michael. start off with dry skimming first. or you will go nuts with the amount of extra time you will spend adding water and cleaning the cup. also your bioload and feeding has alot to do with it. hope this helps.
