I want to change out my H&S. I am not happy with the maintenance or the power usage. I am looking for some feedback on the new stuff out there. I see Skimmers with DC pumps now and all iinds of things. I need something rated for at least 600 gallons. I also dont want to spend a million dollars. How it works and the power it uses is probably the 2 most important things to me. External...

RLSS R10-E 10 External Protein Skimmer with Speed Controlled DC5000 $809 on saltysupply. Good up to 660 gallons. Controller on them is really cool you can press the "feed" button and it shuts down for 10 minutes, you can also use that feature to clean the cup out.

Super reef octopus is coming out with their new DC motor this month for their skimmers, I would look into one of those

They are out already. Ive been reading up on them and the 12" diablo is only good up to 450gal which is surprising for $900. There 9" POV Pro is only 500 gal for also $900.

Yea right now looks like the rlss is the only option for my water volume. I hope they were both rated fairly.

I have a kent marine nautilus ex that is rated for 600+g. It needs a pump pushing 3600gph to operate. Never seen water. Don't know if you would be interested, would let it go for cheap.

Naa I really want one of these new CD ones. This should save a lot of power and pay for itself over time. I am just really concerned with the physical size of the RLSS. It seems really small for its rating. WHo has one of these on a big tank? How is it working?

Noone gets SWC skimmers anymore? No problem with my 2s Cone on a 500g system before, putting it on another one now...
