skimmer air line

on my coralife super skimmer i bought used , didnt come with an air line silencer (the air lin that is connected to the pump) what could i do to make it quiet because it is really loud?

You could use a film canister with cotton, or use a longer piece, and coil it up.

so i just drill a hole in the bottom of the film canister and put cotton and leave the top open?

no.....drill the exact same size hole in the lid, andposition the cotton directy in between the top and bottom. so it isnt actually touching either

It doesnt have to be exactly this way, but you will find that it will clog much less frequently with dust and particles if you do.

if you have the cotton directly against either hole/side.....it will concentrate the dust and clog air input fairly quick

If the bottle is sealed where are you drawing air from?

you take a canister, film bottle, pvc cap closed, etc.

you drill 2x 1/4" hole, one for the air line, one for breathing
