i am setting up my 90gallon tank and am planning to run a rubbermaid style sump and wont be able to use a bubble trap , how can i cut down/eliminate the skimmer bubbles escaping back into the return pump into the tank? any ideas

I would put a sponge on the end of the skimmer outlet and try to put the return pump as far away from the skimmer as possible and also put a sponge around the pump also if possible. You could also divide the tank from where the skimmer part is and where the return pump is and then make a little 2-3'' section inbetween with glass or ect and put a sponge or filter fiber in there to cut down on the bubbles. What kind of skimmer are you using?

Place the skimmer in a bucket or pitcher, then place it in the sump. Let the ouput flow into the bucket and it should eliminate a majority of your bubbles as the bucket overflows into the sump.
