Skimmer cleaning trick...

Trying to figure out a way to clean the inside of my ER skimmer body I stumbled accross a Regent (bought at Walmart to use as a feeder clip holder) aquarium glass cleaner magnet I had laying around. This thing worked great at cleaning the inside walls of the skimmer body. Now I'm going to try and find an acrylic safe magnet that is smaller, stronger, and will clean the bottom also.

While this may not be a new trick, it is new to me.

That's a clever idea. The only problem I see with it is that the fatty deposits just go back down into the skimmer. But I guess with the ER's tapered neck, you have no choice.

I don't know if it is safe or not, but I have used dawn to clean my skimmers before, it works great. Just a couple of drops in a tote of water and let it run.
