Skimmer cleaning.

May be a dumb question, but is it ok to clean skimmer collection cup in tap water? I read about bacterial culture in the skimmer and wondered if it's bad to clean with tap water. Thanks

I only ever used tap water. Well and vinegar if it was really raunchy.

I agree with all of them and I've only ever used tap water also to clean it.

I have even used diluted Muriatic acid when it gets really dirty about 10 parts water to 1 part acid. +1 on the vinegar & tap water is surely ok.

Again, although I'm still new, I can see the reasoning behind being able to use tap water is that nothing from the cup goes back into the tank, gunk just comes out.

I clean my collection cup every week with tap water and with vinegar every six months. Has worked fine for years.

I clean with tap water, but I dry it off with a paper towel, so none of the tap water gets mixed in.
