Skimmer Drain?

If any of you want I can build you a collection container (1 gallon capacity) that will not over flow and when it is full will slow down the skimmer until you dump it out. Let me know. PM me and I can give you the details.

Skimmer collection container

Got a few pm's on this so I thought I would share. My skimmer is an MRC 2, it already has a drain in the collection cup, it is air tight, so the air produced during skimming has to go out the drain hole as well. Ok here is a picture of the top of my skimmer.

The drain is on the right.bottom of the cup in this picture. The next picture is the top of my collection container, it has a 1/2" barbbed fitting, this attaches from the collection cup on my skimmer to this fitting. The other fitting is a 1" fitting, this is the exhaust opening.

This next picture is what it looks like inside, on the exhaust side is a perforated tube, which has pingpong ball inside, so that as the liquid rises, so does the pingpong ball. Once the ball reaches the fitting, it creates a seal and in a sense cuts of the air flow, which will cut the amount of air the beckett can make, so your skimmer "slows down" and will run in "idle" until you empty the skimmate container........Shut off your skimmer to empty, or you will be sorry! :) It can be made for around $10 and in the time it takes to drink a beer. :)

sorry about the out of focus......
