Skimmer Exit Pipe

I just bought a Reef Octopus Skimmer for my sump. I am a little confused about the exit pipe on the skimmer, and the directions it came with arent very easy to understand.

Currently the pipe that dispenses the water back into the tank is under the water line. Is that ok, or do i need to raise it up out of the water?

what model RO skimmer? mine didn't have an output pipe per se, it just had the exit from the gate valve, it came with no additional plumbing.

i added some additional plumbing to mine, a small connector from the gate valve outlet to a T fitting. the top of the T fitting i left open, so bubbled could rise up. the bottom of the T i connected another piece of pvc that dipped below the water line.

long story slightly longer, there is a decent amount of variance in the acceptable water level. if your skimmer is within the correct level of water, and the outlet is under water, it should be just fine, although you may want to consider adding some piping to the outlet to direct the water where you want it to go.

I don't think it matter that much.

I've extended the output on our old DCS300 to about 4-5" under the water line.

On the new Regal 300SSS, I haven't' adjusted it, but it's sitting lower than the DCS300 was.

I have the same skimmer and you should look into this. I don't get any micro bubbles since I did this.
