My thoughts exactly.

Its not a Reef tank. FOWLR
There is rubble LR can see in one pic below the BioBalls
Water is always crystal clear.
Heavy filtration w/ low nitrates.
I rinse the Bioballs once a month. I have pondered the idea of removing them and having all LR.

I would like to do a Fuge but limited in space below the tank.
I have considered a HOB fuge but prolly not large enough to be beneficial.

YuK- clean that skimmate out :)
How much rock/sand do you have in the main tank? Given the bioballs are completely submerged- they aren't doing a heck of a lot to be honest- normally they are in air and water spills over them. Prob reason nitrates stay low???? In other words, you can free up your sump space and pull them out. Heck use the bioball container to grow you some algae!

Is there enough room in the sump for when the power goes out to handle the drainage from the tank? Water level looks real high.

In that pic yes the water level is extremely high.. If power would have gone out there would have been a flood. Its normally set 1/4" below the bubble diffuser on the CSS. So there would be more air/water exchange over the balls.

Only reason i don't remove and add more algae is that i have close to 600 Gph through my sump. So if anything i would just replace the Bioballs with some larger pieces of LR with macro algae and such on it.

I'm looking to pick up a clamp on light or a small light fixture for my sump.http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=11382&N=2004+113345
The mini freshwater fixture 2- 9w 6700K PC's to run off timer and come on with my LEDS at night.

I'm defin impressed with the CSS skimmer it was a good buy! :) ;)
I think it was the right choice.
I can't wait to try my ASM G3

Home depot has some nice cheap lights that are great for algae growing- look for Lights of America PC's. I think it is an outdoor fixture of 65W and daylight color temp,

I am currently using a pair of 75 watt floodlights that I got from lowes with the faceted crystal. I likethem better than the commercial electric 65watt'ers from Home depot. When I switched I got a chaeto explosion and took half a 5gallon bucket to Eddies.
