I've tried lower in it to half the skimmer body but still foam.
Okay, then it's skimming something out of your tank. I'd keep emptying the collection cup and whatever it's taking out will eventually be gone (unless it's something you're adding...food, etc).

Do you run carbon? If not, using carbon could help.

I think you're right. It's definitely something in the tank.
I stopped feeding frozen food every day and the only thing I dose is all4reef.
One more thing my reef mat finishes with in 2 weeks it should last more then a month.

@Reefing102 doses All4Reef so he might have some insight.

I feed frozen food daily and occasionally my skimmer will go nuts but, not regularly like you're seeing.

I've never used a Reef Mat so, I'm not familiar with those.

I’m on vacation so I can’t dig fully into it, but are you running the skimmer with the dual controller? I believe this controller then allows you to set the over-skim prevention which would automatically adjust the pump to prevent the over skim.

If you’re not running the controller, that may be the issue. Per RedSea, “the Dual Controller is indeed required for the Reefer DC Skimmer to function at full capacity. Without the Dual Controller, the skimmer pump will operate at a reduced power level of 30%. To ensure your skimmer performs optimally, please connect it to a Dual Controller as per the instructions provided in the manual.”

With that said, the suggested water lever is approximately 7-8 inches, so I’d try to hit that target if possible.

Does the skimmer have an adjustable air input? If so, I’d try closing it down some.

As for All For Reef, I stopped using my skimmer before I ever began dosing it, so I don’t know of any correlating effect to that unfortunately.

I think it might be the nopox(red sea) which I stop using 3 months ago.But I don't think the side effects should last that long. I am growing a lot of hair alge.

I attached a snapshot shot of the parameters if that helps.

Thank you for the quick response!

KH is in dkh not ppm

Your parameters looks pretty good to me. The only thing I see that is off is Nitrate and Phosphate. These days it is not recommended to have those values at zero...you actually want a bit of each. Here's a handy chart that shows what we should shoot for.

It looks like drier foam than what you were getting before.

I didn't see a response to Shane's (reefing102) question on if you have an adjustable air input on the skimmer. If you do, you could try adjusting that.

I will look into getting a controller for the skimmer at the moment I don't have one.
It is getting better since I posted I will continue emptying the skimmer cup as Suggested.
I still think it's the red sea no pox I used 3 months ago I should of gradually weed the tank of it.

Thanks for All the replies.
