Im looking for advice for a skimmer on my system. The total display gallons is about 550 and about 200 for the sump. I currently have a reeflo orca 250 pro and it fills the cup about once a week and I don't think it keeps up well. I have a lot of big fish, clams, and growing out a large number of sps. Im looking to go with a reef octopus. I was looking at the SRO 8000xp external but the guy at coralvue recommended the regal 300 external which seems fairly small to me. Its about the same size as the one I have. I only want to do this once is anyone using the 8000xp or the 300 regal and if so on what size system and bioload. My bioload on the 550 gallons is moderate to high as is with all the big tangs I have. Thanks for any help.
