skimmer for sell

I am not overly crazy about mine but have nothing to compare it too so I just keep mine since its paid for :) The mag 5 is too small I think the manufaturer recomends a 7 or 9.5 valved down so I am sure he wasn't getting the full effects of the skimmers with a 5. I run a dolphin 800 on mine and its a tad to strong for it. If someone got it for $100 it would be a steel though.
 
Its not runnig half the time! I unplug it meaning to dump the container and give it a good clenning and Oh... 2,3 days a week or so latter I get around to it! :lol: I do seem to have to turn up the air a tiny dab every day or so as the neck gets dirty to get the foam to climb and spill over into the collection cup good. It seems to pull a good amount of stinky sludge I just don't like tweeking the air flow to get peek preformance from it. But I am lazy about that kinda stuff or just plain ol forget to do it. Whats a easy fix? Thanks!
 
Hmm... for you I dont know if it matters. Allot of people see a reduction over time. If you already have to turn the air down what i found might not help you.

I have a EV240 w/ Iwaki MD40RLT, the skimmer is external and about 3' above the pump. Makes it easy to access and clean.
I run mine wide open and found over time i was turning the gate valve to keep it skimming. The other day i took a pipe brush and cleaned under the injector (first time ever). There is a gap for air mixing then a tube, I believe i had salt build up under there. I also cleaned the injector with muratic acid. I now have to turn the air down because its too wet, like it was when i first got it.
I havent adjusted anything since and clean it about every 3 or 4 days without turning it off (quick).

how old is yours? I think they changed the design in 04 or 05.
 
I do think I have the "short" air thingy :) Just haven't gotten around to calling and geting it replaced. I ran mine external in the 80 and liked it much better than in sump. Its just too hard to get to in the sump. Glass cages sent the 65 gallon instead of the 50 I ordered because they were out of stock but its so tall its hard to get in the sump easy. I will do the cleaning you mentioned and see if it helps :)
 
what i hate about things like that skimmer on ebay is people wont start bidding till the last few hours and then the price will be alot higher then it is now. i use to always see things like that for so cheap and then check it out after it sold and the price went sky high. i see stuff sell for more then what you can buy it for in a store because people get it in there head that they want to win the bid and they will bid till they win no matter if it is worth it or not. i guess its like someone addicted to gamblimg lol. i just sold a gig of ram that i paid $120 brand new a year ago and i got $140 for it on ebay. you can buy the same one from dell for $130 so the guys bidding on it paid way to much for used ram but im not complaining lol. you never know though it might go for cheap. it always depends on whos looking at it when the times almost up.

and that is exactly why i never buy anything on ebay unless its not available anywhere else. Crazy aint it??....lol
 
yea, He also has a top off kit listed and it took some searching but I found it for the exact same as it sells for new from manufacturer! His is new but I guarentee someone will pay more for it than he did! It always pays to reaserch before you bid on ebat stuff! I agree you think you are gonna get a steel till the last hour :(
 
another thing i hate is how alot of the people make there money on the shipping so the product looks cheap till you see the shipping cost.for example i seen a hydrometer that was buy it now for 99 cents but the shipping was $15. i could buy the same hydrometer for $13 at the lfs but i do see people buying stuff like this alot. i guess some people dont pay attn to the shipping cost.
