skimmer ideas for this body?

From Sequence:

The new NW will handle either with an air pump, however, it will work better with short and wide without an air pump..preliminary dims indicate 20" high w/o air pump

I would PM Spazz and ask him though, give him all the dimentions.

Yeah, already PM'd spazz, no answer yet. Talked to BeanAnimal, and just need to decide what size alita to get. May just go ahead and get an alita 60 and just bleed off any excess. I would rather have too much air and waste some, than not enough. Still need to look into getting acrylic tubing for the riser, and make some sort of collection cup, etc.. Not sure how tall to make the riser though. Maybe start at 12" and cut down if I need to. Planning on using a gate valve on the output of the skimmer to help with tuning as well.

Just for the record, a pair of 3700s with meshwheels will pull about as much as a dart, and not use nearly the electricity.

I'm getting 65 scfh out of an OTP3000 (similar, but smaller)

Well, got the tank today (finally!) and thought I'd share a pic. Still not sure what size alita to use for this though.

What did they charge you to ship?

I am not sure I agree with this statement. It seems to me this is highly dependent on how either pumps handles the head pressure in addition to the venturi attirbutes, housing mods, etc. THis may be true under some configurations, but not all.

Secondly, it sounds like the plan is to inject air with an Alita 60, which is certainly not appropriate for pumps as small as OR3700's.

I do think you need to bottle and sell those OTP steeroids;) . I am not sure anyone else has been able to get 65 scfh (30 lpm) out of a pump like yours. amazing.:eek1:

cheers.

RichConley-
The shipping was $16 to 46227 from Missouri. However, the website says they ship from several different locations, so I don't know if this will be a good guide for you or not. If you're interested, you should be able to call and get a shipping quote for your area. My friend was quoted $55 for three of these (he's using them for water storage, top-off, automatic water change system). As far as the 3700's go, the main reason I decided to go with the dart nw instead is beacause of the issue with head pressure. This particular tank is 42.5" tall, not including the riser and collection cup I still have to make. Not sure how much air they would draw without a pump, and if I have to use an air pump, I figure I might as well go with the 'big boy"!

rishma-

You pretty much nailed it as far as the venturi attirbutes, housing mods, etc... Just seems easier to me to use the dart nw in the end.

Ok everybody, I know it's been awhile, but I'm still fabricating, but I thought I'd post some progress pics. My camera sucks, so I hope you all at least get the idea.

The Cap routed out (my first time doing this so be kind:D )
