Skimmer In A Refugium!

I have a 10 G refugium that gravity feeds into my 65G display. Is there any reason why a HOB skimmer would not do well in the 10 gallon refugium?

Seems fine to me. Obviously micro-bubble control is an issue...but I assume you have baffles in place already. What skimmer are you thinking?

Its the Remora Pro. I already have it on my 65. I just want to transfer it to get it out of the display. There is no baffles. Just an open drilled 10G with sand/cheato, and some rock.

Maybe fashion some sort of sponge to fit over your return hose or lip to reduce bubbles. Other than that I think you'd be ok.

with light, algae can build up in the reaction chamber significantly reducing the efficiency of the skimmer and requiring frequent cleaning. If I recall, the remora pro has opaque sides and back, but I think the side facing the aquarium is translucent, which would allow light to enter the reaction chamber. If you paint this side it shoud help! (besides, being a past owner of the remora pro, I know what a pain it is to try and clean all the way down inside that thing)
best of luck!
