Skimmer in Refugium?

I just recently picked up a new Tunze Skimmer, but the footprint is too large to fit into the first compartment of my sump when I added the sump kit extension...

Is there any problems associated with using a skimmer in a refugium? The waterflow into the skimmer is somewhat filtered, so I don't expect it to kill a ton of life...

i have mine on the recirculating mode and in skimmer. i have tons of pods. hanging near the skimmer
it wont hurt anything in recirculating mode
