skimmer issues

Hey all,
I was trying to do a search but it seems to be down. I want to know about the Remora protein skimmer. I have had one running since the day I put water in the tank. Recently, it's been a week or two since it produced anything. It's been bone dry. I have noticed a few cracks here and there in the collection cup, can't at all explain that. But hopefully someone could shed a light on why it's not producing the foam. A few months ago we had the electric go out at my house. (neighbor's doing. Long story) and when I got home I found the pump on the skimmer off the pipe and blowing sand all over. After putting it back and working all the sand out of the motor it seemed to have worked fine. That is the only incident that went with the skimmer. Everything else seemed to be working fine, getting foam, not on a daily bases but at least some every other day or so. But now it's still producing bubbles, but not to the height of making it into the cup. I was hoping that it wasn't producing foam because there was no waste to foam out, but that is NEVER the case I know.
What are your thoughts?

Have you cleaned all of it ( the motor, air intake and collection cup ) and do you adjust the height of the collection cup?

Capn',
I was told that it was not needed, just clean the cup. Brad stopped by where I work and he came up with a game plan. The LFS that I originally started with, though they have great stuff. They have mixed advice. I hardly see the same people in there when I go. Like I said, great stuff, when I buy there it's because I know exactly what I want.
No names of course.

i have a remora. I clean the throat tube every few days to keep it producing well. You also need to remove the white screw and clean the injector periodically. These two things keep it running well. The pump cleaning is useful as well but not as important as the throat and injector.

i have a remora pro/rio 2500 and a regular remora with mj 1200, lower cup if you have to keep intake on pump clean, and like spiffy guy said take out white screw and use little brush that came with it to clean out injector hole with power off of course.
