skimmer location

i was wondering if i could but the skimmer last chamber of the sump, the area with the red box? if i use the blue boxed area as a refugium, will the skimmer work where i want it or does it need to be in front of the refugium?

either spot will work, if you can the skimmer in blue and the fuge in red

Looks to me like the red section is where the bulkhead is for the return pump.

I would think the ideal setup in this situation would be the skimmer in the "unmarked" area on the right. Fuge in the blue and the red left empty.

You definately do not want the skimmer in the red section. You'll fill your display with micro bubbles.

i second the umarked section, and agree the red section is not a good spot due to microbubbs

Microbubbles alone is not the issue IMO. One of the benefits of a fuge is to promote pods and other little critters that will be returned to your display and provide food for your fish, corals, etc. If you put a skimmer in there, most of those critters will get sucked up and disposed of.

You also don't want your skimmer in the last section because this is where you will see your daily water evaporation. Unless you have an auto top off, the changing level would make setting the skimmer almost impossible.
