skimmer mod opinions

i have a 4' tall duel down draft skimmer(i can list exact measurements if anyone wants) that i just converted to duel beckett. each beckett is run by it own Mag24. my turn over rate through the sump isn't enough to feed both pumps with raw over flow water so one pump gets raw and the other is feed from the sump.

what im thinking about doing is tapping into the mixing box and feeding the second pump from the skimmer, in effect making it a recirculating beckett. i know i will have to put one of those out flow loops to keep the skimmer full so the second pump doesnt run dry on restart after power failure. but other then that i don't see any other mods that will need to be done.

do you all think this would make an improvement?
am i wasting my time?
what do you think?

2x mag24? Thats 530 watts to run this thing?

I dont know if the recirc would make much difference, but you could probably run the whole thing off a single more efficient pump, and it would pay for itself in a couple months.

That thing is costing you $65 a month to run.

Waste of horsepower. Beckett are most efficient around 1000 GPH. I can't tell a bit of difference between a beckett driven by a Mag12 and one driven by a Mag18. Other than that...I like becketts....I like recirculating becketts but when I do the recirculators, I like to slow down the inflow to 2-3 times totala water volume. JMHO.

one mag 24 wont run both becketts. i already had one running it when i converted to the becketts but i got nothing. all the info that i found on becketts said that they run the best with a pump that can pump 1000gph at 12', so i know that a mag 18 will do this but it was either buy 2-18's or one more 24.
if i make one recirculating that will cut the flow through in half, dubbeling the time the water spends in the skimmer
