Skimmer performance with new setup

So I recently (10-11 days ago) moved to a larger setup, with about 75% more water volume than before. I used a bunch of old water moving the setup over, but I would guess about 60% of the water in the system now is new water. I also reused about 80% of my previous sand and rock.

My question is my skimmer, it's the same one as before, but it hasn't created a foam head since the new setup began. I have been feeding the tank a lot trying to get some nutrients into the system, but still nothing, it just idles away. Is this normal?

Thanks

Yes. I did the same less than two weeks ago, 55 to 90. The skimmer took a little time to break back in. Additionally the bio load, although the same as before, is spread across a much larger volume.

Mine kicked back in within 10 days. I also added several fish and several new coral frags though.

Cool, I'll give it some more time. I added one more fish and that's it.

75% more water is alot. I will be concern that your skimmer is not big enough for the new setup.

I thought about that, but the bioload hasn't increased a ton. It is still rated to larger tank than I have, but I am planning on upgrading in the next few months probably anyway. I did some testing last night and phosphate is .02 and nitrate 3-4 so it appears at this point I don't need a skimming skimmer yet :hmm4:
