Skimmer Problems

Does anyone have experience with Super Skimmer? i bought a unit and the cup keeps overflowing.....hardly anything but water...Ive turned it all the way down and it still overflows...its basically uncontrollable

I don't have any experience with the CSS. The appear to be fairly finicky to get working properly. I think there is a long thread somewhere in the lighting and equipment forum that talks about how to get them going.

I have a super skimmer 65 on my small tank. I've never had the overflowing cup problem, but in trying to rid myself of the microbubbles that mine creates I did have it jump up quite a few times. From reading about them and from a little bit of experience, I'm guessing that you are somehow restricting the output and increasing the pressure inside the skimmer. This includes putting the output too far down into the tank, running the output from the skimmer any way but sloping downward, or jamming it into the bubble trap so that it creates back pressure. If these couldn't possibly be the problem then I don't have a clue. Good luck.

the output was bent slightly and kinda forced into the bubble trap...i fixed it and it seemed to work for a short while but now its back to overflowing with water

I bought one last week and so far, I am Absolutely loving it. I ran it in Hot water at first to help the breakin. it was producing gunk in about 24 hours. now it pulls out a very nice smelly funk.

THis thread is MOSTROUS. but I read it and it really helped me in my decision. it started in march 05 and was split 2 times. it has like 100 pages of stuff, but really helped me and I have it bookmarked now. it is still being posted to.
