Skimmer pump help

After 2 years, I'm still such a newbie!

This is the first time I've needed to change out the pump for my skimmer. I'm going from a Rio 600 to a Maxijet 900. (What Leighanne said I needed.) I'm sorry I've forgotten the name of the skimmer itself, but I think it's a Red Sea something.

The body of this pump looks the same as the old, but it's missing the tube thing that stays up out of the water. ???

Do I just plug it into my skimmer the same way as the old one, minus the tubing, or is there something I'm missing?

Any help would be appreciated. And ASAP as I'd like to get this done before the baby wakes.

TIA!

You'll need the venturi tube/valve. MJ should have a neck in the spare parts that attaches to the outlet with a small T for the venturi hookup.

OK, I see the tube thing. So I stick this little extra tube-thing over the part that goes into the skimmer. Then stick the tube in the little hole sticking out of it, add the other little thing to the end of the tube and leave it out of the water.

???

I think I've got it. Does that sound right? (Terminology aside?)

Mod it. I had to add some extra parts to get an MJ1200 to work with a CPR BakPak. Been several years and can't remember how. You can even try dipping the MJ end of the plastic hose in boiling water for 10-15 seconds to get it "stretchy" and get it over the venturi neck. Be careful, the tube will be hot.

Thanks. I figured it out.

Actually, I just bought a different system. I'd wanted to upgrade for awhile. Nothing like using ignorance as an impetus for spending money! ;)
