Skimmer question about a Euroreef.

This is a simple question, but it will likely help me avoid a mess in my house.

I have an ES135. When I go to unscrew the collection cup, do I have to unplug the skimmer first? Or can it continue to run while I dump it and reattach it.

I bought it used and it works great, but has no directions with it.

I always unplug mine before I remove the collection cup. It depends on how quick you are though, I just don't like any bubbles to flow out onto the skimmer while the cup's off and being cleaned.

I turn my RS135 off when removing the collection cup, I tried once to do it while still running and it made a wet mess, if there's a way to remove the collection cup without turning it off I would like to know, I don't like having to readjust everytime.
