Skimmer/refugium combo for filter?

Does anyone use one of these for your main filter on your nano?I've been brain storming again and,------------.:rollface:

I have seen a tank with the back of a nanocube converted into a refugium, but I run mine empty and dark.

That's what I use. I have a 10G refugium which houses some LR/Chaeto and in one partition I have my skimmer (hardly ever turn it on since I do water changes weekly)

Here's the one I built. I calculated it out and the refugium is less than two gallons but has taken my Nitrates from 15-20 down to .25 in the couple months I've had it running, and I have a heavy bioload nowadays and feed a lot. I have a Lights of America flourescent "under cabinet" light from Walmart on the back. The skimmer uses a mesh-mod MJ1200 and works great.
