I have an old Euro-reef skimmer. The Euro-reefs are no longer made. It works great, but the riser tube is the type that incorporates sponges at the top to allow the water discharge to gently exit back into the sump. I see some Euro reef skimmers that don't utilize the sponges, but instead have a pvc elbow coming off the riser for the water to discharge back into the sump. Hope that makes sense, I don't know of a better way to explain it. I would like to do a DIY riser to replace the existing one that I will model off of photographs of the Euro-reefs that utilize the different type of riser. Anyone have any suggestions or tips that might help me out in this project? It looks like it would be simple enough, but when I get into DIY projects, it never goes as simply as I first predict it will be. Funny how that happens. Thanks in advance for any replies.
