Skimmer schedule

Hello, I have a pretty large skimmer for my 75 gallon tank (reef octopus classic HOB 2000) and sometimes it seems to not have much to pull out of the water. I have read about people only running their skimmers for like 8 hours a day on a timer and was curios about it. Has anyone tried done this before? If so how did it work and do you recommend it for my situation?

Not sure why one would run for only 8 hours a day. If it's not pulling much, you're water quality is good or bio load is low. I'd let it run 24/7

My recommended schedule for the HOB would be:
M,W,F - Midnight to 11:59 pm.
T,TH - Noon to 11:59 am.
Weekends - 24 hours

Sorry, couldn't help myself . Run it all the time.

I run reef octopus classic 90 (which is graded for up to 130 gallons) on a 40 gallon tank for 24/7. Yeah it doesn't pull stuff from the water all the time but it still aerates the water.
