Skimmer Suggestions for 90 Gallon

I ran a 90 gallon for a year and a half with a All American Model 3 sump. total final system volume was about 110 Gallons. I ran an AquaC Remora with a RIO 2400. It pulled out the nastiest and most disturbing green gunk when dialed in (smelled VILE) and the tank flourished. Never had a problem. I had no issues with Livestock death and I had Anemones, Clams, Sponges, Pulsing Xenia, star polops, zoo anthids, and mushrooms of many kinds which all grew and multiplied to the point of profitability. I ran the Remora as a stand up unit out of the return of my sump. it added a few extra gallons to the tank volume as the whole unit was outside the sump walls. This setup with one 400w MH Ushio 10,000K bulb and some 90w of VHOs in Actinic this setup was awesome. Right up till the day i had to move and sell off the whole system... : ( sad day...

Thanks for all of the replies, I didn't think i'd get this many. I looked at all the skimmers that were suggested yesterday, and I still have to look at the ones that were suggested today. I think the MSX skimmers looked pretty good and since everyone says they work well I may go ahead w/ one of those. I might just go w/ the MSX 160 if it saves space and has similiar efficiency to the 200.

MSX 200 will get the job done, a CSS 125 might skim a 30 gallon if your lucky enough to get it to actually work.

If you have the space, go with the msx200 over the 160. I have heard the 160's can be a real pain as the pump is mounted underneath the body. I have had my skimmer for about 2 weeks and have been messing with the pump very frequently. In order to make adjustments to the 160's pump, you have to take the entire skimmer out. doesn't sound like too much fun to me...

Also, it looks like marine solutions prices just went up ($20) hopefully they are still doing free shipping...

Thank you for the replies. It looks like a probably go w/ the msx 100. I may try to find a used one here on since it will be a few weeks before I get the fuge.

Well looks like my dad didn't listen to me and he went ahead and ordered a marineland 100 skimmer. I tried looking for ratings and reviews but couldn't find any. So was this a good choice or a bad one.

Thanks for the reply. That's a little more reasurring. I'm just concerned that since the model 100 is rated for 100 gallons, it may not be able to handle the bioload of a 90-gallon tank.

Seems to be doin pretty good. The collection cup kind of fills up fast though even with the flow rate lowered. I've also noticed that the water level in the sump has to be low or otherwise the skimmer doesn't work as well.
