skimmer trouble shoot

i just bought a used set up 72 g bow and the skimmer is broke will not bubble it has a ehiem 1048 pump on it, now the ceramic shaft inside the pump is broke but it still pumps water through just very little bubbles. seems water is getting pushed back through the air hose a bit . would the shaft cause this like i said it pumps fine just no bubbles.

You should not use a pump with a broken shaft. A world of trouble could evolve from that. Just break down and buy a new pump.

Sounds strange.
The best thing to do is just change out the impeller.

planned on it . skimmer is not running now just wondering if that would be the problem or not. if the pumps the problem then id just get a new ceramic shaft if not new skimmer if you see my point.
