Skimmer upgrade :)

Oh, I didn't realize that. That sucks!

Man that Manta ray pump is really gonna suck some JUICE! 771 WATTS! :eek1:

yeah, there has to be a better pump out there that is pressure rated up to ~6000 gph's and uses less power than that one!

This pump worked great through an OM 4-way. It then powered my quad beckett skimmer before I moved on to Deltec. Great pump for a larger tank.

This is what HOC has posted. I think if it can run 4 becketts it would have to have enough pressure to run your skimmer! I don't know a ton about that stuff but I know in order to run 4 becketts it takes a lot of power!

Otherwise talk to the guys over on the DIY forum there are tons of people there that make their own skimmers and I'm sure someone could set you up with a good pump. Maybe send SPAZZ a pm. He seems to be really big into that stuff.

Maybe check out the Iwaki 70 rlt or 100rlt. I believe both of them are pressure rated. The 100rlt is about the same price as the Manta Ray but takes half the power!

I don't think that is enough pump.

That is a lot of pump! :)
Actually Bob it's only one pump that draws less than 52 watts! :)

I thought the 1260 was only rated @ 637 gal/hr whereas my 1060 is rated @ 602 gal/hr.

Great pump, seems to last forever but I don't think it's overly powerful.

Hey Bob check MRC's website. You basically turned your MR-3 into an MR-7 so something around SEQ 3200 our something in that nieghborhood would work. When in doubt call Andy at MRC.
BTW NICE!

I have dart w/ 3600 gph's on it now and it not enough with the extension. Plus it is not pressure rated. I talked to Andy and he gave me a few suggestions but he did not really seem to know what to get for sure. I posted on the MRC Club thread and nobody responded :(. I was hoping to get a response from someone that has done the same thing.

Just get like 35 maxi jet 1200's thatll do the trick:P:P:P
God luck with this one bob man that skimmer us huge my son could swim in it. Hey wait a minute he might think thats a good idea.
:)

It looks like you got lost in the suffle in the MRC Culb thread. Like I said I would go with a "1000" series Sequence pump. There suggested for the larger MRC's and they generally will save you a bundle in operating cost over a similar sized Iwaki.

I like the plumbing job you kept all the turns nice and smooth.
