Skimmer???

anyone know anything about the sea clone 150 or the coralife skimmers??

Well, I told you about a Coralife --- you can buy a $500.00 skimmer and it won't do anything more or last any longer than the Coralife. And, the Coralife is easy to adjust too !

I have to disagree here, the coralife skimmers are junk. I ran one for over a yr and there are better skimmers out there. You might have to spend a little more but they are better. I now use the octopus skimmers and there is no comparison in my opinion.

I bought a seaclone in soemthing like 2005, it was a piece of junk. Unless they did something amazing to the design, I would avoid them.

Check your local reef club or craigslist, you can get a really good used skimmer for the price of a new junky one.

A skimmer is an acrylic body with some plumbing attached to it, so aside from a few minor differences between bodies, they are all about the same.

The No. 1 factor in skimmer performance is the pump, a cheap pump, like those used on Coralife's, Seaclones, Eshopps, Odyssea's, and Vertex's results in poor to mediocre performance. A good pump such as a Eheim, Bubble Blaster, Red Dragon, Sicce or Askol will draw in more air, and create a much better foam.....thus resulting in better DOS removal from the water column.

I have been using a Reef Octopus Extreme 160 for about 6 months now and I love it. It runs great out of the box and even better with a mesh mod.
