what kind of skimmer is this and what do i need to do to get it working??

one things for sure you need to put a pump on it. how tall is it?

about 1 and a half foot to 2 feet

your best bet is to go to marinedepot.com and look at skimmers there with close to the same measurements to see what pump they recommend.

It looks like it could be homemade. If it is store bought it has been modded alot by previous owner(s). You need a pump for sure.

It is definitely a DIY skimmer. Probably needs a 400-500 gph pump.
