skimmer ???

ok I'm looking for a new skimmer but don't know for how meany gallons it should be rated for. my tank is 180 gallons with a heavy bio lode so how big should i go?

How much room do you have for your skimmer? Vertex IN 250 would do nice but pretty high skimmer, otherwise MSX 250 would also do a good job... JMO Both have very good reviews but it depends on what you want to spend??

I'm looking to spend like around 450 to 500. i have about 25 inches of clearance

what about space in your sump? I second a MSX 250 if you can make it fit

I was actually looking at getting the Reef Octopus Extreme 200
Protein Skimmer rated for 225 gallons

MSX250. It comes with better performing pinwheels than the Octo. You would be pushing it with a 200. Get the 250 if you can fit it.
