Skimmers Discharge Level Question.

Is it a usual thing for the skimmer discharge to be above the water level in a sump? The water level comes to about 1/5 ways up the discharge valve and this seems to be potential noise that I would like to not have. Is it workable to do an elbow pointed down under the water level for quiet sake?

is that a reef octopus? that are famous for making the valve above water surface.. which is totally stupid.

I added a few PVC to drain the water down..

Yes,it a 150. I would not recommend this model at all. Very complicated to set up for me.

My RO skimmer is the same way. Very bad design. You can make a silencer from PVC pips
