Skimmers

budget?
Planning any upgrades in the near future?
What is your stock list?
What other methods of filtration are you using?
In sump or out of sump?

A bit more information would be good. If in-sump, I would recommend a Super Reef Octopus. I use a SRO-5000sss on my 240 reef and it is a great skimmer. I use an ATI Bubblemaster on my fowlr tank and it does a nice job also. If I was buying another new skimmer, it would be another SRO

Maybe in a few years...

No fish yet, just starting. Tank has been cycling for a week.

80LBS of live sand and a 7in filter sock

The SRO-5000sss is going to be over kill for little ole 92 gallon isn't it? Or is over kill good when it comes to skimmers?

Ummmm... yeah... I was saying that I like my SRO. And would recommend one that is appropriately sized for your application. I went a little big on mine and don't regret it a bit. A 1000 or 2000 would work for your set up I suspect.

Ahhh...ok I see what you are saying. thanks a for the help.

the sro 5000 would be huge for ur size tank but then u could upgrade to a 250 ~ 300 no problem. if the xp2000 is a bit expensive u can get the normal sro 2000 or 3000 they would also work well on that size tank.

oh yes i have an xp2000 on my tank mine is 125g and fo was originally supposed to be a reef but then i decided to go fo. now i wished i got something bigger like the sro3000 or even 5000 would have allowed me to stock more fish and make it better when i upgrade.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to go big, so when I do upgrade I'll be ok.
