skimmers

Does any one know if a canister filter can be connected to a protein skimmer? im'm not entirely sure about how the skimmers work to know if they could be joined together?

I have an aqua one 2200 canister.

any ideas?

Hayley, post here ... http://www.masa.asn.au/phpBB2/index.php ... you might get one of your locals to give you some advice. IMO, get rid of the cannister filter or use it for a carbon filter and depending on what you are keeping / intending to keep, get a decent skimmer. A Reef Octopus NW skimmer from Kim's Aquatics in Sydney will be an inexpensive option. You will need a sump unless you go for a HOB model.
