Skinny fish help

I have a McCoskers flasher wrasse that has been in my care for 6 months. It is really skinny. I am currently treating it in quarantine with maracyn and maracyn II. The maracyn II is supposed to help with skinny fish. He had some ripped fins so that is why I am using maracyn as well.

I have had the fish a little too long to think that he may have been caught with cyanide and I got him from a very reputable dealer. The fish is very alert, very active and seems to be in great health aside from being so thin. He continues to eat just not as well as I would like certainly nothing like my solar wrasse.

If the maracyn II doesn't get some weight back on this fish what else could I try? I really like this fish and I don't want to lose him.

I know I should have posted this in the disease section but I felt I would probably get more input in this one.

Thanks for your help,
C.G.

have you tried feeding with garlic guard or entice? just my two cents.. i used them on my discus when i first purchased them and later in my sw tank for a long nosed hawk that swore off food completely.

I haven't tried those because he does eat.

I think it is some kind of pathogen that is why I am using the antibiotics. The fish was quarantined when I first got him for 6 weeks and was treated at that time with prazi-pro and copper.

Give garlic a shot. The concentrated additive stuff seems to work pretty well. Use selcon as a supplement if you aren't already. When I am nursing thin tangs I will usually soak the selcon in mysis in the firdge for a few hours before feeding it to the fish. It seems to put weight on the fish very quickly and they will usually seem normal within a week.

I am using selcon and vita-chem. I don't soak for hours though. I will give that a shot. I used some entice last night and he was no more attracted to the food than usual.

stykthyn,
Haven't tried a flatworm treatment. Could you elaborate?
