Skirts getting longer...what does that mean?

Well, considering that I gave you that last frag and still have some in my tank that are short and tight, I have to concur with what was said earlier. Taking into account that I use natural water, T5s, and have less direct flow it probably has to do with flow, water quality, and lighting.

After looking at your video, you do seem to have more flow on yours... Are you trying to blow them off that rock or something?

I would be more concerned about the color of those things!!! What do you have over them a LAMP!!!!

I vote for flow as well. I have had one colony in my tank for 3 years and all was well. No changes. When I added the modded maxijet 1200 the skirts took off and tripled in length. No other changes were made other than the powerhead mod.

My vote is also on flow. I have zoa's at the same level in my tank but are on opposite ends of the tank that have different skirt levels. I believe this is because my flow from the return seemingly bounces around the corner of the glass in the tank and hits them directly. The other doesn't get the same flow. My skirts aren't as long as some of yours but in almost all the pictures i've seen with long skirts, the more violent the flow the longer the skirt gets. JMO. Probably has something to do with type of zoa origins or soemthing. Who knows?

What was said above and in a few previous posts. Definitely flow IMO/E. Zoas in direct path of flow have grown much longer skirts yet the SAME zoas on the SAME branch but on the opposite side (equal light) have normal skirts.

i dont believe that its an issue of light when you already have the 3 inches from 300+ watts of pc, that should be enough for zoa's its a flow issue
