Skunk basslet being a jerk?

So my wife and I started our first reef tank. I did enquire on here about a stocking list and the general consensus was that a royal gramma would be ok with a pair of clowns. Well we bought our fish a while ago and quarantined them in 2 different tanks, the issue was the fish store was out of grammas and they suggested a skunk basslet instead, saying they were essentially the same fish. Well we added them to our cycled display tank, day one was good, day 2 and the basslet is charging both of them, has the clowns hiding in the corner, and has taken a few nips at my hermits too. Is this normal behavior for a skunk basslet?

I believe you got some bum dope. I am pretty sure the skunk basslet is on the fairly aggresive side, even more so in a smaller tank.

What is the general consensus on the royal gramma? Are they considered a bit less hostile than the skunk basslet? If so I will sell or trade in the skunk for a royal gramma.

Royal Grammas are considered peaceful reef safe fish.

I have had a few royal grammas and they have all seemed to mind their own business. They will chase away a fish that gets close to their sleeping hole.
