skunk cleaner shrimp

I have had a skunk cleaner shrimp in my tank for about 4 months now, it has started to get black marks on the side of its body. It sheds its skin quite regulrly and when it sheds the blackk marks disappear but then after a week or so the reappear.

Anybody know what this is ?

Do you regularly change your water?

They say that idodine helps form the shells. That said, you don't ever need to add idodine (or most exotic supplements), you just need to periodically change some water.

Yes I do a 10% water change fortnightly

I had the same thing on my shrimp awhile ago. It all dissapeared after a few molts.

It's an untreatable infection (fungal IIRC) that's fairly common in shrimp. It waxes and wanes, but eventually kills the shrimp. They're fairly short lived animals anyway, so it probably doesn't drastically shorten their lifespans.
