I was just talking to Scott "Arlo" and I gave him a bunch of rock and sand today for some acrylic. Anyhoo he needed some other things and I thought SLASH could do a loaner program for newbies or people that are having a problem.---ie-- heaters, pumps, filters, media, test kits, etc..

Most of us have a ton of unused equipment laying around that is worth almost nothing and it could help out someone new or in trouble, I think it would be nice to have an Excel spreadsheet of what people have, so they can be contacted if they have something of use.

If they keep it then a fee should be agreed upon before loaning it out and if they keep or break it then it should be paid. Most members here are honest reefers and will uphold the deal. I just think it would help some people out- in startup and people in trouble-JMHO

Thanks so much for the help, I agree with geoxman he was nice enough to offer me the rock & sand along with other items which is awesome. A thread for equipt. loan or sale for local reefers would be a great idea. BTW I am looking for a small hang-on MH light for my 12 gal. Nano until I get my fixture which I am going to purchase from PA in the next few days. Aslo looking for a digital thermometer & power center if anyone has any extra for sale.

What clamp on halide you getting? I have a 70w viper that I can sell. It needs a new bulb as far as I know.

I'd let it go for $50 as long as it does work and only needs a bulb. Bulbs look to be about $50. I need to find a bulb to see if that's what it needed.

instead of a long thread we could keep it on a spreadsheet either here on SLASH-but for newbies this will show up sooner for searches. Scott I just felt really bad when you bought that heater when I had about 20 of them in the basement.

It could be a simple list of what can be borrowed or bought and should be fairly simple---ie....no 8 foot Geo skimmers with 12 pumps.
Just basic stuff that some reefer might need in a jam. Happy reefing!

a 10 gal QT tank
a 150 electronic IC MH ballast
1 660 IC VHO ballast 220v
1 440 same as above
Eheim cannister filter
Magnum filter
Fluval
Phosban reactor
9 various MH bulbs both DE and SE and K-if someone wants to check out color.
2-250 MH ballasts M58
etc....

If you could do a spreadsheet type application it would make it easier or if any one has some ideas.

Wow I was thinking something similar but I thought it would be cool to have a SLASH yard sale to sell trade or just give stuff to others depending on what it was and how many a person has and try to get rid of it that way and if you had anything BIG just take a pic to show what it was.Well just an idea?

i could use a pump for salt mixing since im mixing it by hand in a 5gallon bucket for like 5minutes ..... i know its bad but i dont got an extra powerhead pm me as this thread is getting long i will try and look here
