There are two face-book pages for SLASH. I only knew of one, the Public Face-Book page that is used like an advertisement page or something. The other is a closed group page, I was invited to it and joined.
Why I asked for these things?
Simple, closed groups and visitor pages both have drawbacks. Closed group posts can't be shared with anyone not in the group, also they don't generate meta-data to lead others into the conversation who may want to join the group.
Visitor pages/posts also don't post meta, nor do they trigger alerts to anyone following or liking the page other then the admins, this makes posting in them almost pointless. Take a look on the visitor page and see how few peoples posts are responded to.
Ultimately what I was hoping for was a few boxes/posts "tacked" to the top by the admins that anyone (even outside the club) could post tank shots, items for swap, items for sale and mostly just fun things about the hobby. That way anyone following or liking the post gets the alert (or turns on the alert me tab), and looks if they want. This would drive meta, and bring new eye-balls to the page possibly increasing people talking about the hobby who live in the area.
I'm not trying to stir-up trouble, I'm just on the go almost all the time, in those moments I get a break I enjoy reading/sharing and learning about the hobby. Honestly RC is great, but its a pain on my IPHONE compared to FB. I can post entire albums of pictures to FB in the time it takes to get a single photo up on RC, and for this hobby pictures drive the conversation IMO.
Ok I have to get back to my physics paper, cheers.
So, that's why I asked
