SLASH Officer nomination 2016

Mr D smack

Active member
Up for election will be the positions of member-at-large "currently -> Kegogut" and vice-president "VP -> Mr D Smack". As usual, the vice-president automatically becomes the club president the year following their VP term.

We are open for nominations for these two positions at this time. The nomination period will end at midnight Friday May 27th. Following that at 12:01 AM Saturday May 28rd, there will be a 4 day period in which to vote for the officers ( IF a vote is required ). The new officers will take their position on June 1st.

If you wish to nominate someone for a position, please first verify that they are willing to serve. If you are in question about what is expected of you please ask a current board member.

That being said.....let the nominations begin.

Have you tried searching it on the .org? I cant use the search feature from my phone. Just curious if the information is available that way for members

I searched and didn't find anything. I think it's kind of like our current member at large (KEGO), he is a member and he is large. Hmm, not sure if Mark is large enough:clown:

Seriously though, the member at large is one of five board members in a fairly loosely structured club. Board meetings rarely officially happen and minutes are never taken. Most of the time you're lucky to get even 3-4 board members together, and that's usually only if they are meeting at a good beer pub or Smack's house with his gourmet filet mignon and lobster tail.

The main thing for anyone considering joining the board is that they can work closely with the other board members and not be a polarizing force, and that they truly want to see the club grow in a positive direction. The board isn't for self aggrandizement or to make a buck, or new connections. It is to bring other reefers together regularly for pizza nights, tank tours, poker runs, swaps, field trips to semi-local aquaria and simple backyard bbq. It's basically an easy job that you can make want you want with it.

This is something I found on the web that is pretty close as well:

Typically, a member at large represents the general membership on issues of interest or concern, particularly those that arise outside of the standing committee structure.

The MAL conducts projects to further the goals of the organization or to develop services for the membership. The MAL could serve as chair of any ad hoc committee formed to develop these projects.

The MAL listens to membership and communicate their issues, needs and interests to the Board of Directors.
* Identify potential problems and opportunities.
* Work effectively toward common goals as a team member.
* Set objectives and develop action plans for selected and/or assigned projects.

Apologies in the delay, but the elections are now open over on the .org members only forums. If the race is close I will cleave the polls open for the time that we missed out on.
