SLASH Top Coral Farmer Contest

Is it normal for this coral to put out a new head in just one week. Looks like i'm going to have to find a larger rock.

Awesome Hershel

This is the fastest growing zoas/paly I've ever seen. Which is one of the reasons I picked it for our first contest. Those of you that don't get any growth out of it are going to experience some serious SMACK!

I am a bit disappointed in the amount of smack talk being posted considering the amount of smack that was posted leading up to the contest........ at this rate i could win this thing and i didn't even get a frag ! lol

CFarmer is not in the Coral Farmer contest?

Hmmm, nope, don't see him:D

We've got 8 competitors in SLASH's first ever Top Coral Farmer Contest. Each contestant will post a pic of their coral every month for the next four months to monitor growth and everyone at home will get to follow their progress, root for favorites, and heckle those that can't keep up! Based on our thread leading up to this event I expect a lot of smack talk and a very entertaining dialogue  On of before February 14th, 2013 every contestant will post their final picture and every supporting member will have an opportunity to vote for who they think had the best growth over the four month period. The winner will receive the title of "SLASH Top Coral Farmer", a Premium Aquatics fragging kit, and eternal bragging rites!

Our feature coral for this inaugural contest are Armor of God Zoanthids from SLASH's Coral Donor Program (CDP). Lets meet our contestants and view the starting pictures of their corals.

Mine is in my frag tank off to the side of my Ushio 400 watt 10K, but I ordered an Ushio 400w 20K as the 10K is old. I also have a few polyps closed up on the frag and I'm not sure why that is. I suspect all the flatworms, bubble algae and detritus could be suspect and the fact that I didn't light acclimate it to the 10K at first. So, now I have cleaner tank conditions and a new bulb coming and will slowly move it to the light.

Prams:

NO3 17.6 (Lamotte)
PO4 .06 (Hanna)
Alk 10.3 (Lamotte)
Cal 460 (Salifert)
Mag 1380 (Salifert)
SG 1.0265 (refractometer)

I am questioning my flow as my only circulation is a 3/4" Seaswirl, so it might need more random flow and I have considered adding a Tunze to the tank.

40 breeder with 126w led, circulation is a iwaki 1100gph return and a vortech mp10. Light schedule is a 8 hr day. Temp holds between 81 and 82.5

Params
No3: 10
Alk 8
Cal 480
Sg 1.026

My tank temp runs 76-78. My halides are on for 8 hours a day and VHO for 10 hours a day.

Mine is in the frag tank also with a 250w MH at 20K. My prams are:

NO3 - 0.0 LaMotte and API
NO4 - 0.05 Hanna hand held
Ca - 430 Hanna
Alk - 8.0 LaMotte
SG - 1.025 Refractor
Temp - 76-80

I use the water change water from my DT - 25 gal twice a week. The overflow from the frag tank goes down the drain. I have a MJ1200 for flow. The tank is 24x24x12.

So the macro lens from Apple is kinda crappy unless you literally have your lens right up on the object which is nearly impossible.... lame...

My tank is 48x18,18, flow 2 Koralia 4's 1050 and 1400, light 2 90W Pharos LED modules, Reef Octopus 400 Protein Skimmer, weekly 20G water change. I'll add a pic soon 2 new heads in the last week.
