Slow Coraline Growth

Maybe it isn't slow, maybe normal.

After 3 months little to no coraline growth is visible. Is there something I can do to jump start its growth? Listed below are my water parameters:

PH 8.2
Nitrate 0
DKH 9.8
Phosphate 0
Cal 380
Salinity 1.025

Another tip was given when I created an account on RC is to go out and buy a really purple rock then put it in the tank and brush it and let the purple coraline get into the water column then it will start to propagate.

My Calcium was at 300 last week and now it reads to just above 400. I never ever tested for calcium before.

Now I see some purple here and there in tiny spots but nothing to write home about.

It will take some time for you and me.

I'll buy that this weekend! thanks for the tip!

Get a nice two part. Keep your ca, alk, and mag in check and it will take off. I use reef code A and B from brightwell aquatics.

sponsor bulkreefsupply.com has an inexpensive two part solution with calculator and instructions. check it out. good stuff...

I went through the same situation. It took around 9 months before the coraline would grow. It was frustrating to look at all the brown/gray live rock in my reef and not see the nice looking purple you see in so many other tanks. You just have to be patient. It will eventually start to grow.
