slow overflow

I have a huge overflow on my tank. LFS says it will drain at least 1800 gph. It has two drains. It will not keep up with my little giant pump. 3-md something. Its only rated for about 800 gph. What am I doing wrong? I had to hook up another single overflow just to keep up with my pump.

what size are the drain lines?

1" drain lines can only handle about 600-700 gph.

Is it a utube, if so, just throw on another utube or two and you may be fine.
